Increase in UK Air Passenger Duty (APD) from 1 February 2007 |
The UK government recently announced, with immediate effect, that Air Passenger Duty (APD) will double for passengers travelling from 1st February, 2007. This meant that passengers who had booked their tickets for travel from 1st February, prior to the date of the announcement, would be liable to pay the additional duty.
VLM Airlines feels that this is an unfair, and unwarranted additional cost for its loyal passengers who had already booked their tickets prior to the announcement, and will therefore be meeting the cost of the additional duty on their behalf. All tickets booked after 11th December, 2006, for travel after 1st February, 2007, automatically include this increase in duty. VLM press release 17.01.2007
